

A funeral service, to celebrate the life of John Frederick Bailous, 96, of Newark will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 9:00 AM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Charles W. Noble, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
John was born in Sutton, West Virginia on October 19, 1913. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2009.
John was known in Newark as the “Community Godfather”. Prior to retirement three months ago, John was a race horse caretaker. John’s entire life was dedicated to loving and taking care of race horses. As a dedication to John’s life, a horse drawn hearse will take him to his final resting place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Donald Jenkins; brother, Paul Bailous of Canton; granddaughter, Tanisha; nieces, Phyllis Lee Jackson of Hamilton, Sheila Marie Bailey of Cortland, and Rowena Blaine of Canton; nephews, Steve Bailous and Lonnie Bailous, both of Canton; long time friend and care giver, Nancy Allen; and numerous other nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
