

John William Barber, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Stow, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on April 3, 1931 to the late John Edward and Madeline Barber. John served in the United States Army; he graduated from Cathedral Prep and Gannon University, both in Erie, Pennsylvania, and retired from Firestone after many years of dedicated service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by infant twins, Gregg and Kathleen Barber; and brother in-law, Daniel Materna. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice (nee Auer); children, Carolyn (Steve Emrich) Barber, John Mark (Linda) Barber, and Timothy (Kristi) Barber; grandchildren, Catie, Connor, Maria, Mitchell, Jill, Kirk, and Shaun; sisters, Rita (Robert) Moser and Elizabeth Materna; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 6:00PM-8:00PM with prayer service at 7:30PM at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, Ohio. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:00AM at The Chapel located on the grounds of Resurrection Cemetery 9571 N. High St. Lewis Center, Ohio.
