John Barker

John Barker, age 75, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was born on February 12, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Garnet L. and May (Moultrie) Barker. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Justin Barker; sister, Jean Long; and brother, Gilbert Barker. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Gwendolyn; son, John David; and many family members and friends.

John attended Central State University and Franklin University. He retired as area manager with 40 years at the United States Postal Service, where he received many awards. John also served 3 years of Honorable Service with the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and travel. John especially loved to cruise. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed volleyball and track with Gwen; and Gahanna baseball, traveling baseball, football and basketball with John and Justin.

Visitation will be held 6-7:30 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN, 229 E. State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43223.
