Monk graduated from St. Charles Preparatory in 1954. He enjoyed being an assistant football coach at St. Charles and teaching at Hartley High School, where he also coached football. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated in 1964 with a D.D.S. degree. He practiced in the Forest Park area before moving his practice to Upper Arlington.
Monk's mere presence inspired love and affection from his family, friends, grandchildren, their friends and beyond. There was never an opportunity he'd miss to be with his family, all of whom held an incredibly special place in Monk's heart. His charm made you smile, quick wit made you laugh, and ability to recall any event amazed you. He cherished his time being with good friends and was a long time member of Scioto Country Club. Special memories abound with all who knew him and his eternal presence will be with all those who loved him.
Monk will be dearly missed by his wife Anne A. Clifford and their children John W. Clifford, Jr. and Cristin C. Sturtz, son-in-law Craig Sturtz, sister Patricia A. Clifford, brother-in-law John W. Allen and his beloved grandchildren Erin E. Sturtz and Kara A. Sturtz, who affectionately called him Poppy, as did all of their friends.
Family will receive friends from 3-6 P.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 280 N. Grant Ave.
