John Richard Davis

John Richard Davis, age 85, of Grove City, passed away March 18, 2016 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. He was a 1948 graduate of Scioto Township High School in Commercial Point. He served his Country during the Korean War. He worked for Columbia Gas in the Corrosion Dept. for 43 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hilltop Sportsman Club, and Volunteered making coffee at the VA in Grove City and a member of the Honor Guard for VFW Post 8198 and the American Legion Post 164 in Grove City for 18 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; Howard and Mary Davis, sisters and brothers-in-law; Stella (John) Richardson, Peggy (Emery) Fannin, Esther (Robert) O'Connor. Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vi (Ranke) Davis, daughter; Valerie Lynn (Doug) Moore, son; Jeffrey Richard (Donna) Davis, grandchildren; Charles Richard (Brittany) Graul, Eric Michael (Mindy Woodruff) Graul, Sara Nicole Davis, great-grandchildren; Madison Shea Graul, Caleb Richard Graul, and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Friends may visit on Tuesday March 22, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL 3920 Broadway with a final salute by the VFW and American Legion at 7pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at the funeral home at 12:30 pm with Pastor Don Allman officiating. Interment will be at Beckett Cemetery in Commercial Point with Military Honors provided by the VFW and American Legion Honor Guard he so proudly served.
