

John Randall Hensel, age 65, of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Zusman House. He worked for Lee's Fence as a skilled carpenter for over 30 years. He also worked as a mechanic at JR Towing for many years. He was an avid racing fan (#3, and later #8) and served as the proud crew chief for Hensel Racing. He served on the US Navy destroyer USS Ernest G. Small during Vietnam. His parents, Richard and OraBell Hensel, and siblings, Bonnie and Tony Hensel, precede him in death. He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Patricia Hensel; children, Nalani Griffiths, John "Bub" Hensel, and Joe (Ashli) Hensel; stepdaughters, Kim (Scott) Fyke, Beth (Bryan) Shook, and Marci Hammond; grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua, Brendan, Jaylen, Allison, Brandon, Gabrielle, Abigail, Haley, and Austin; brothers, William "Tommy" (Barb) and Rick (Mary Jane) Hensel; special nephew, Larry Hensel; many other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Schoedinger Linden Memorial, 2741 Cleveland Avenue, where friends will be received from 2-4:00 p.m. Thursday. The celebration of John's life will continue at Helen's Pub and Grub, 2808 Westerville Road, Columbus, Ohio, immediately following the service.
