John Francis Olszewski

John Francis Olszewski, age 73 of Hilliard, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016. John was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late John and Helen Olszewski. Also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Olszewski. John graduated from St. Ignatious High School, Class of 1960 and Cleveland State University. He had a career in finance and retired from GE Capital after 25 years of dedicated service. John was a brilliant man who was outgoing, giving and loved a good joke. He was a member of AA for 27 years and through that organization John was able to touch countless lives and share his experience, strength and hope to help others stay sober. John enjoyed singing, participating in choirs and community theater. He was an avid golfer, artist and creative sculptor through woodworking. Most of all however, John enjoyed spending time with family, especially watching his grandchildren participating in sports. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend of 19 years, Mary Helen Olszewski; children, Laura Hooker, Lisa Turner, Melissa (Vincent) Lovell, Robert (Sarah) Klein, Michael (Laura) Olszewski, Katie (Bret) Wohrle, and Gina (Shane) Spicer; 11 grandchildren; siblings, David (Ann) Olszewski and Nancy (Robert) Danner; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Ln., where family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass Friday.
