

He grew up on Glenwood Ave in "the bottoms" and served as batboy for the Columbus Redbirds from 1943-45. He was a proud graduate of Central High School, a three sport athlete achieving all-city status in football and baseball, graduating as the valedictorian of the January, 1950 class.
John attended Western Michigan University for a year, then came home to marry his high school sweetheart, Luella Miley on June 22, 1951.
John played in the Giants minor league system in Wisconsin for two years before returning to Columbus to continue learning the sheet metal trade. After being a partner in Delta Heating, John founded Wolfe and Sons Heating and Cooling in 1973. John was a successful small business owner, receiving two Dave Lennox awards and being inducted in the ACCA Hall of Honor.
John is survived by his sister Selma Kelly, his daughters Brinda Adams and Sue (Mike) Sommerfeld; sons John "Tink" (Jane) Wolfe and Ralph (Lucy) Wolfe, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Lue, sister Florence Moran, and son William Russell "Russ" Wolfe.
Besides family and his business, John was also a faithful and generous Christian man, living out his faith primarily at Linden Lutheran Church, where he served for many years as a lay leader of the congregation.
Family will receive friends from 3-6 pm Saturday August 2 at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. John's memorial service will be at Linden Lutheran Church, 1230 Oakland Park Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43224 on Sunday, August 3 at 3:00 pm. John's family will also receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Linden Lutheran Church in John's name are encouraged.
