

Juanita Gertrude Kelley, 96, died peacefully at home on Friday, January 3, 2020. She was born on August 28, 1923 in Fenwick, WV. Juanita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a homemaker, seamstress, a Sunday School Teacher, prayer warrior and an avid reader. Her favorite book was the Bible. She was a longtime member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. Juanita lived in an era where she knew how to wash clothes on a washboard, pump water from a well, cook on a wood burning stove and pitch haystacks. It made her a strong woman. She got her wish to be a "city girl" when the family moved to Columbus in 1959. Preceded in death by her husband, William Doy Kelley; mother, Lola Jane Hammond; father, George Washington Hammond; and four brothers and four sisters. Survived by her five children, Sharon (Thomas Paul Jr.) Bailey, Charlotte Kelley, David (Sue) Kelley, Sheila (Ed) Bremer, and Shonette (James) Gill; seven grandchildren, Jessica Thompson, Gareth "Will" Kelley, James Kelley, Jon (Emily) Kelley, Thomas (Sarah) Bailey III, Sarah (Scott) Gill Watkins and Rachel Gill; 5 great grandchildren, Ashlie Thompson, Oliver Kelley, Hudson Bailey, Colton Bailey and Lydia Watkins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 10 - 11:00 am with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204. Interment Sunset Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Crossroads UMC for their uplifting prayers, cards and visitations and Capital City Hospice for their loving, compassionate care over the past few months.
