Karen June Smith

Karen June Smith, 68, passed away on August 22, 2021. She was born to Herbert and Ruth (Sunafrank) Sprague on December 14,1952 in Columbus, OH. After graduating from Gahanna Lincoln in 1971 she worked for RG Barry Corporation ('72-'00) and Boehringer Ingelheim (Roxanne Labs) ('00-'16) before retiring in 2016. She then moved to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina to enjoy her retirement.

Karen was known for her love of OSU football and Marching Band, for being an active member of Church of the Resurrection in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and for her love of the beach.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, and a warrior through her battle against Ovarian Cancer.

Karen is preceded in passing by her parents; her beloved husband Jeffrey L. Smith; and grandson Keith Williams III.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Bryan (Jennifer) Dersoon; daughter Jennifer (Cory) Perry; grandchildren Kiere, Kevin, Kelsi, Olivia, Alexander, and Ethan, and her 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 31 at 10am at Church of the Resurrection, 8901 US Highway-17 Bypass South, Surfside Beach, SC 29575.
