Kathleen I. Brooks

Kathleen I. Brooks, age 64, of Galloway, Ohio passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010 at OSU Medical Center. Kathy was an avid Buckeye Fan who lived and breathed Ohio State, where she worked for 32 years as the graduate program coordinator for the College of Pharmacy. She loved her work and especially loved the students, many of whom came to think of her as their “Second Mom”. Kathy was a 1964 graduate of Columbus West High School. She will be remembered for her witty personality and great sense of humor. She loved football games, long walks and spending time in her garden, but nothing was more important to her than her family. Her memory will live on in the lives of her children, Kara (Robert) Hillis and Ryan Brooks (Courtney); and beloved grandchildren, Kalee Brooks, Kamerin Hillis and Rylee Hillis; also survived by brothers, Robert (Susan) Thornton and James (Lori) Thornton and sister-in-law, Cindy Thornton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Thornton and brother, Charles Thornton. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, 43204. Services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 am. A private burial will be held at a later date. Those who wish may contribute to the Arthur James Cancer Hospital or The American Cancer Society in Kathy’s memory.
