

Larry A. Wood, 75, of Grove City, OH, went to his heavenly home on September 6, 2011 from complications of pulmonary fibrosis. Larry was the second of three children, born on January 5, 1936, in New Albany, Indiana to Arthur and Freida Wood. He was a graduate of duPont Manual High School in Louisville, KY. Larry attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He went on to further his education by obtaining a Master of Public Service from Western Kentucky University. Larry worked for three federal agencies during his career, including the United States Army, Public Health Service and Veteran’s Administration. He retired as the Chief of Pharmacy of the Columbus, OH VA Hospital in 1997, after serving there for ten years. Larry is survived by his devoted and loving wife of fifty one years, Norma Faye Wood and their five children; Michael E. (Evin) Wood of Floyds Knobs, IN, Vickie L. Wood of Lewis Center, OH, Kathy Y. Freeman of Westerville, OH Timothy A. (Bob) Wood of Los Angeles, CA and Rebecca A. (Chris) McKelley of Smithville, OH. Larry was also the proud and loving grandfather to eleven grandchildren; Christopher, Danielle, Sara, Tara, Dylan, Macy, Joey, Jessica, Noah, Tristan and Logan. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joyce (Charles) Plumb and Melanie Wood, both of Louisville, KY and a very special cousin, Donna J. Box and her husband Don, of Oakridge, TN. Larry was a ten year member of the Tracktown Shirts and Skirts Square Dancing Club, where he and his wife enjoyed dancing and being with friends. Larry became a born-again Christian on April 13, 1947 and was a life-ling member of the Independent Christian Church. Most recently he was a member of the Buckeye Christian Church in Grove City, OH. One of his proudest life accomplishments was the completion of eight years of in-depth Bible study through Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International. Larry leaves his family and friends with a legacy of faith in God and learning to trust and obey the Lord. Family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway. A funeral service will be held at Buckeye Christian Church, 1528 London Groveport Road, Grove City, OH, Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
