Laveda Opal Evans

Laveda O. Evans, 89, of Gahanna, formerly of Columbus died Monday, November 23,2009. Born on March 7,1920, and was adopted by Austin and Anna Mock. She was married on June 23, 1942 to Perry E Evans of Columbus. Preceded in death by her husband Perry Jr.,and her son Austin L., Survived by her sons Perry E. Evans III of Gahanna, Robert M. (Georgia) Evans of Elkhart, In.; 8 grandchildren Rebecca, Kelly, Michele, Michael, Cary, Liberty, Julie, Ann Marie; 14 great grand children Gabrielle, Alyssa, Latisha, Kalita, Dylan, Cassidy,Perry, Dustin, Justin, Melanie, Emily, Lydia, Noah, and Alana.

Laveda was a 1938 graduate of Columbus North High School and retired from the State of Ohio in 1982. She taught CCD classes at St. James the Less for more than 20 years, she enjoyed reading and spoiling her family with her love, smiles, caring eyes and the most delicious roast beef and homemade noodles.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 am. at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1652 Oakland Park, Cols., Oh. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St James the Less Church Catholic Education.
