It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow. Levi Aston Boals' life was filled with an abundance of sunshine, and a little bit of rain. Heaven gained a beautiful rainbow on Thursday March 9, 2023 when Levi (age 4) passed away peacefully at Nationwide Children’s Hospital surrounded by his family.
The sunshine began on November 10, 2018 when Levi was born in Columbus, Ohio to his loving parents Adam and Melissa (Aston) Boals and brother, sidekick, and best friend, Addison. The storm started when Levi was diagnosed with Stage IV Anaplastic Wilms Tumor at two years old. Throughout the rainstorms of his cancer battle, there were plenty of sunny days sprinkled in. On his sunniest days, you could find Levi playing Hot Wheels and Beyblades with Addison, swimming in the hot tub, playing on his iPad, dancing, singing, and adventuring with his family. Levi also created joyful memories spending time with his devoted grandparents, Nonna, Papa, Mimi and Pappi, his aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Rainbows have been a symbol of hope throughout Levi’s journey. We thank his compassionate and dedicated medical team for figuratively and literally bringing rainbows to our lives throughout his care. We thank those who brought us love and light in the form of prayer, donations, meals, and support for ‘our Levi’ over the past year and a half.
We are thankful for the sunshine that Levi brought to those around him even on the rainiest of days. His captivating presence to friends and strangers alike left a trail of smiles and happiness everywhere he went. The strength and bravery Levi showed during his life has inspired countless people. His army of supporters will remember him as the toughest warrior ever and draw strength from his example on hard days. Even though Levi idolized Ironman, we all know who the true superhero is in our lives.
Levi will be deeply missed by his parents Melissa and Adam; brother Addison; grandparents Carol (Martini) and David Scott Boals, Karen (DesCombes) and John Aston; great-grandmother Sue Boals; aunts and uncles David (Michelle) Boals, Michael (Abbey) Boals, Matthew Boals, Kevin Aston, Brandon and Jessica (Aston) Hale; cousins Rory, Garrett and Caleb Hale and Beckham and David Grant Boals, beloved pets Pippa and Rigley; and many extended family and friends. Levi was welcomed into Heaven by his great-grandparents David Boals, Ralph and Audrey Martini, Russell and Rosie DesCombes, Inez Johnson; and grand-dog Moxi.
The family will have a private Memorial Service on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST. We thank DJ Ruggieri and Dan Dickman for officiating. A celebration of Levi’s life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to NC4K http://www.nc4k.org/donate; A Kid Again https://akidagain.org/donate/; AngelWorks, https://myangelworks.org/donate/; or Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation http://www.nationwidechildrens.org/give.; Wilms Tumor Research: https://cc-tdi.kindful.com/?campaign=327222.
