Librado L. "Lee" Solis

Librado L. "Lee" Solis, age 92, of Upper Arlington, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Westminster Thurber Community. He was born April 2, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Roy L. and Nellie (Lynn) Solis. Lee began in 1941 as a file clerk with Bates and Company remaining as Chairman of the Board until his death. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Lee will be dearly missed by his wife of 71 years, Bette (Roberts) Solis; son, Steven Lee; daughter-in-law, Carol Solis; grandsons and their families, Scott (Megan) Solis and their children, Joe and Lena, of Chicago, IL, John (Amy) Solis and their son, Jakob, of Columbus; niece, Lou (Gary) Cattell and their children, Jeff (Theresa) and Julie (Brian), their children and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.T. (Julia) Furgerson and Frank Furgerson. He was a 1940 graduate North High School. Lee was a longtime member of First Community Church where he was a former deacon and longtime lay leader of the Wednesday morning men's breakfast group. He was a member and on the Board of Directors of Rotary Club of Columbus, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow; member of the Masons, Scottish Rite as a 32nd degree Mason and Aladdin Temple Shrine; past deacon of Broad St. Christian Church; longtime member of Athletic Club of Columbus and Scioto Country Club and past President of Insurance Board of Columbus. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Chapel of Westminster Thurber Community, 645 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Oh 43215, where family will receive friends from 12 Noon-1:00 pm Sunday. Rev. Jim Long officiating. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the service.
