Lois Josephine Smith

Lois Josephine Smith, 88, passed away on February 8th, 2018 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. She was born on August 17th, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio to Wilbur R. McAlister and Cecile Kuhns McAlister. Lois earned her diploma from Gahanna High School. Lois and her husband, Robert, owned and operated the Robert E. Smith Construction Company for 33 years. She was an office manager in insurance sales and a Real Estate Agent for many years. She was a committed member of Peace Lutheran Church. Lois loved spending her time traveling the world. She took her family on vacations including a cruise to Nasau, St. John's Island in the Virgin Islands and Jamaica. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings Jacquiline McAlister, Janet McAlister Ellis, Carol McAlister, and Michael McAlister. She will be missed by her family, including her children, Pamela Sue (Ronald) Howell, Diane Carole Smith, Lisa Ann (Matt) Murphy, and Robert E. Smith Jr.; grandchildren, Jason (Sissy) and Tera Howell, Molly (Waylon) Beaver, Jacob (Jen) Murphy, Megan (Toni) Turowski, Genevieve (Chase) Beekman, and Kailee and Riley Smith; great grandchildren, Lee Davis, Carson, Illa, and Kaylon Beaver, Tessa, Hannah, and Theodore Turowski, and Erin and Joseph Murphy; and her siblings Patricia McAlister Dwight and Wilbur "Bill" McAlister. Her family will greatly miss her strength and heart for her family. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 where a visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11th, 2018 from 1-4pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12th, 2018 at 11am at Peace Lutheran Church 455 Clark State Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230 followed by interment at Headly Cemetery.
