Lonnie "Lee" Wooten

Lonnie “Lee” Wooten, age 71, after battling back courageously several times, finally succumbed to serious illnesses on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. He was born in Wellston, Ohio, on September 6, 1940, and attended Linden McKinley High School in Columbus, where he resided for the rest of his life with his wife, Barbara. Lee also served in the Army National Guard. He worked for many years as a barber and was the owner of Weber Road Barber Shop. He then went into real estate for several years, only to return to barbering at Teck’s Barber Shop, located adjacent to the Ohio State campus where he was able to serve many OSU athletes and coaches. Lee was an avid Ohio State fan, and he also enjoyed boating and fishing, especially at his cottage on Buckeye Lake. He was a longtime member of the Cali-Ho Square Dance Club, and he enjoyed vacations to Myrtle Beach with friends and family. He was also a member of Beechwold Christian Church where he was active in his small group study. He was Past Master of Linden Lodge #637 F. & A.M., and Past High Priest of Community Chapter #227 R.A.M. Most of all, Lee was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Wooten; and man’s best friend, Abbey. He is also survived by 4 daughters, Rhonda Lee Wooten-Capuano; Tamara “Tammy” (Tom) Brown; Lisa Marie Wooten; and Crystal Renee “Crissie” (Richard K.) Gessells; sisters, Donna Jean Busby and Linda Sue (Charles) Archabald; grandchildren, Jodi Capuano, Jessie (Jeremiah) Capuano-Howell, Danielle (Josh) Anderson, Patricia Brown (Joshua Anderson), Lonnie “Spike” Brown, Madeleine Marie Dempsey, and Rikki Lee Gessells; step-grandchildren, Michael, Eric and Nicole Gessells, Dawn Mosley, and Thomas, Sean and Shane Brown; great grandchildren, Jordan, Jaedon, Shaelyn Lee (due April 24), Starr, Kayleigh, Kassidy, Aleah, and Oakley; 7 step-great-grandchildren, in addition to Alonna and Mikkayla; and several nieces and nephews. Lee will also be missed by hundreds of friends whose lives he touched with his generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred LeGran and Bertha Blanch Wooten; brothers, Larry Lynn and Freddy Allen Wooten; parents-in-law, Henry and Lauretta Young; and brother-in-law, Bud Busby. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
