

Lorraine Parsley Sammons, age 91, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away December 15, 2011, surrounded by loving family. Heaven got a new angel today. She was born March 20, 1920, in Kermit, W.Va. She was a dedicated wife and a wonderful mother, sister, friend, and grandma. She will be reunited with the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Golden. She was also preceded in death by her parents, M.H. “Fancy” and Elizabeth Parsley; brother, Hayden; sisters, Marie, Annis and Lilly; daughter, Baby Sammons; and grandson, Gary Lee Pyle. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Bob) Moore of Asheville, NC, Irene (Gary) Saba of Lancaster, Ohio, Golden Jr. (Bonnie) Sammons of Delaware, Ohio, Arlend (Cathy) Sammons of Urbana, Ohio, and Betty Sue Lee of Columbus, Ohio; her living room buddy, Larry Luce; sister, Alpha; and brothers, Robert, Howard, and Homer. She was Mamaw Sam to her grandchildren, Suzanne, Robby, Jennifer, Scott, Valerie, Mary, Brian, Chris, Rachel, Emily, David and Joshua; great grandchildren, Daniel, Amy, Katelyn, Caroline, Kelsey, Malorie, Madeline, Haley, Kaitlyn, Brian, Kamrin, Chloe, Heather, Tara, Angie, Olivia, Zac, Carlie, Nick, Jordan, Tyler, Avery, Abigail, Anna, Reileigh and Nicole; and great-great grandchildren, Clay, Brooklyn, Danaka, Payton, Thomas, William, Morgan, and Hayden. Lorraine was a longtime employee of Simmons Bedding Company. She was a charter member of Lane Avenue Baptist Church by helping place the corner stone. She enjoyed camping at Apple Valley for over 30 years where she spent her summers. She always greeted everyone with a smile. She liked working on the social committee where she was Sunshine Chairman for many years. She was taken care of by caregivers David Stein, Judy Snyder and Betty Sue for 8 years in her home. The last 3 years, she lived at Sue’s where she and caregiver Debbie Cook and neighbor Darrian McDowell cared for her. Family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road.
