

Marilyn Ann Mount, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, August 22 at Kobacker House in Columbus. Marilyn was born February 16, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, to John T. and Bertha Watts Mount and her father survives in Dublin, Ohio.
Marilyn was a 1965 graduate of Whetstone High School in Columbus, Ohio; she was named a 1965 presidential scholar and received her award from President Lyndon Johnson. She was a 1969 graduate of Miami University of Ohio, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a bachelor of arts degree in zoology and physiology. She received her certificate in physical therapy from The Ohio State University in 1970. Marilyn’s career in physical therapy spanned forty years in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a therapist, chief therapist, then Director of Therapy at the Cleveland Clinic from 1970-1995. From 1996-2011 she was a physical therapist in patient care at University Hospitals, Cleveland. Marilyn has received the YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence Award (1985), the Outstanding service award from the northeast district of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association, Physical Therapist of the Year of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association (1997), Meritorius Service Award of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association (2008), Viking Award from Cleveland State University Physical Therapy program (2011), and the Crains Cleveland Business Health Care Heroes Award for Allied Health (2012).
She is survived by her father, John T. Mount, Dublin, Ohio, brothers Thomas L. (Carol) Mount, Blacklick, Ohio, John R. Mount (Kathy), Knoxville, Tennessee, and Donald E. Mount (Judy), Marion, Ohio, step-brother John Lilly (Barbara Hodgkiss) nieces and nephews Kim (Todd) Anderson, Jennifer (John) Volkmann, Amy (Charles) Giles, Michelle Sabbato, Wendy Blankenship, Rob Mount, Kari Mount and Danny (Beth) Mount, uncle William Mount, aunt Lois Boyer, aunt Patricia Kelch,18 cousins, and 11 grand-nieces/nephews, 6 step-nieces and nephews, and 7 step-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Watts Mount, stepmother Ruth Weimer Mount, stepmother Carroll Lilly Mount, uncle Robert Watts, aunt Wardella Mount, uncle Kenneth Boyer, uncle Eldon Mount, and aunt Ramona Mount. Marilyn lived her life believing in peace, justice, and respect for all peoples. Her life was dedicated to service as stated by Shirley Chisholm “Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth. It is the very purpose of life, not something you do in your spare time.” Marilyn was a beloved member and mentor to her entire family and an inspiration to her friends and colleagues.
Family will receive friends Friday, August 24, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, Rev. Philip Brooks, officiating. Family will also receive guests in Cleveland September 6, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the Victorian, 3701 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44121.
