

Mark Donald Hammond, 89, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020. He was born August 12, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Joseph and Birdsley (Payton) Hammond. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was an avid golfer. Mark retired after thirty years of service to Roadway Express in Columbus, Ohio. He loved animals, especially his Pekingese dogs, Tippy, Misty, and Rocky. Mark enjoyed travelling and taking photographs of the places that he went. He proudly displayed those photos around his home. Family was important to him. He cherished the time that he was able to spend with family and friends. Mark loved every car that he ever purchased until he got the next one. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy, Bill, and Cecil; step-son, Harold "Ed". Mark is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Inez (Lemley) Hammond; children, Ellonda (John) Sperry, Tina (Bob) Raley, Mark Hammond, and Steve Caldwell; step-daughter, Penny (Tom) Halterman; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
