

Martha G. Bennett, age 94, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2021. She was born on June 5, 1926 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Frank and Louise (Welty) Gabriel. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bennett; sister, Dorothy (Dottie) Binau; and stepmother Regina (Joseph) Gabriel. Martha graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1944. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Education from Baldwin Wallace University in 1948 and began her teaching career. She married Clyde Bennett on April 15,1950. The family moved north where they resided in Livonia, Michigan for 44 years. She was a woman who wore many hats from devoted mother, Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher to PTA member. As a trained pianist, Martha shared her passion for music and children through teaching piano and directing both the children's choir and handbell choir at Redford Presbyterian Church. Later in her professional journey she became a Director of Kinderkirk-a Christian Daycare program serving birth through elementary-aged children in Redford, Michigan-for several decades until her retirement. She continued sharing her gift of music-playing piano for the nursing home ministry at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter, Carole (Randy) Roys; son, Jeff (Patty) Bennett; grandchildren, Rachel (Adam) Daniels, Bethany Roys, Zak Bennett, Haylee Bennett; and great granddaughter Alexandra Daniels. Private family interment will take place at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting that donations be made to the Kevin A. Binau Scholarship Fund administered by the Crawford County Community Foundation and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
