Martha J. Bruce

She was born January 27, 1937 to the late William H. and Helen M. Moore. Martha was a 1954 graduate of Linden McKinley High School and attended Bliss Business College. For years, Martha worked at Richard Avenue Elementary School and Brookpark Middle School in Grove City, Ohio, where as secretary and aide she was able to touch many young lives while also keeping an eye on her kids! Martha retired at age 65 from Jefferson Smurfit (formerly the Container Corporation of America) in Circleville, Ohio. She was a member of Powell United Methodist Church and a board member of the Worthington Woods 6-7 Condominium Association. Martha looked forward to the monthly luncheon date with girlfriends from Linden McKinley High School and was an active member of the Reunion Committee, taking great delight in planning a cruise in the Caribbean for their 50th year Class Reunion. She was a woman of strong integrity and faith and her family meant the world to her. Martha had a green thumb and loved her beautiful plants and flowers.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and beloved cat, Frasier. Survived by her loving children, daughter and son; Cindy Bruce Nolan and William A. Bruce; daughter in-law, Laura Youngblood Bruce, grandchildren, Emily Nolan, and Henry, Conor, and Peter Bruce; former husband, William E. (Mary) Bruce; sister, Patricia (Hugh) Williamson; brother, Michael (Jill) Moore; sister in-law, Judy Bruce and many nieces and nephews. You may be out of our sight, but are never out of mind. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the many friends, physicians, nurses, aides and caregivers who helped make Martha’s last months and weeks more comfortable for her with their dedicated care and compassion.

Family will receive guests on Sunday, August 12, at 2:30 p.m. with a celebration of life memorial service beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Powell United Methodist Church, 825 Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio, Rev. Larry Brown, officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.
