

Martha M. Stevenson passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, in Columbus, four days before her 92nd birthday. Preceded in death by parents Earl and Mary McClelland, sisters Beatrice, Hazel and Ann, and her husband of 52 years, Robert B. Stevenson Jr, MD. Survived by sons Robert B. III (Barbara), Jeffery M. (Teresa), and J. Andrew (Regina), grandchildren Jody, Robert, Molly, Amanda, Mike (Pam), great-grandson Axl and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was born in Xenia, Ohio, attended United Methodist Church and played flute in the Xenia High School marching band. She attended Ohio State University and played flute in the Concert Band under direction of Dr. Manley R. Whitcomb. After receiving her nursing degree from Ohio State she worked at University Hospital and Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, and then spent three years in Topeka, Kansas where her husband served in the US Air Force Medical Corps, stationed at Forbes Air Force Base. The family moved to Columbus in 1952 and spent a year living in a rooming house on the northwest corner of Woodruff and Neil Avenues before moving to Upper Arlington and attending St. Marks Episcopal Church. She moved to Hillard in 2010. She enjoyed cooking and belonged to several bridge clubs around Columbus, and played in many national and international bridge tournaments. She was a Life Master many times over. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 23rd, beginning 12:00 noon, service at 1:00, SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, 43221.
