I was sorry to hear about your Dad's passing, but he had a full and rich life with your mother for all those years and you and your brother.  Even though I have not seem him in years, this picture of him brings back fond memories.  What a great smile!

My last time seeing Great-Uncle Bill was at Thanksgiving...he and my aunt Theresa were playing their Ukulele's and entertaining the whole family. What a sweet time this was indeed.....I pray and ask God for comfort for the ones he left behind, trusting and knowing that he has met his Creator above...The One who also created the beautiful sound of the Ukulele and whom now Uncle Bill is in company with.

I am sorry for your major loss.  Bill was a man who personifies life itself.  He had an emanation about him that lit up the room when he entered that was apparent to others.  He not only was extremely devoted to his family but did them the honor of talking about them as individuals in a way that the  listeners got to know them personally, even if they rarely got to see them.   He did not refer to them in terms of relationship but instead as   Ellie, Tom or Pam and was very proud of each one.  I also miss Bill.

To the family of Bill Shields. We are sorry to hear of Bill's passing.l. The last time we saw him he was outside on the patio  enjoying a sunny day. We stopped to wish him a belated 90th birthday while we were taking a walk around Rock Ridge. We are unable to attend the services since we will be out of towne, but will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers,

Hi Ellie, Pam, Tom and family,  The Peterseim family sends our hugs and prayers for your family.  Your Dad was a wonderful person.  My mom has tried to reach a number she had for Tom and it is no longer a working number.  If someone has a chance to call mom her number is 614-842-8382.  She has been under the weather lately and will see how she feels if I bring them on Sat.  Again our love to everyone.

Tom, I just heard about your Dad's passing and wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.

I don't know if you knew it, but your dad and Norm Taylor's dad were my inspiration to become a Columbus Firefighter. Had it not been for them I would have missed out on the greatest job (and experience) in the world and I wouldn't be where I am today.

So my thanks goes out to a great man and Firefighter!!!!

Dear Ellie & Family.  So sorry to read of Bill's death.  I will always remember the fun times at Valley Dale Ballroom and watching you dance to Chuck Selby's band. The love you had for each other; the love of dancing; and the fun parties we had at dad's house, are all great memories.  I remember that Bill was there for my dad when he had cancer.  Bill was a wonderful man and holds a special place in my heart.  I pray that God will give you Ellie, and your family peace and comfort at this time of sorrow.

Dear Ellie and family. So sorry to read of Bill's death. I just saw him, we hugged and I introduced him to my husband of two years at Bob Brooks funeral at NAUMC. I so remember the fun time we had at a Shrine New Years Eve party. The next morning you came to look at our Gold Wing. Then you bought one. Then we rode to a rally and shared a room. What fun. Coming to your big band potluck- dancing and riding in your pontoon boat. You are special friends. Unfortunately, I just had spine surgery after falling down two steps on an unsafe bleacher at my grandson's Lacrosse game. I had spine surgery on Friday 4/17. I am doing well but willl be unable to attend Bill's service.

I always loved my Uncle Bill's fun personality. He would brighten any room with his warm and winning smile. He was someone you enjoyed being around. My fondest memories of Uncle Bill are the music and laughter he brought to our holiday and family gatherings. Listening to him play his ukulele with my Aunt Lugene on the piano, and my dad keeping the beat on the bongos or spoons, is a memory I will forever cherish. "Shine on Harvest Moon" and "Up the Lazy River" are melodies I will never forget! ?? It seems fitting that our last time together he was playing music.  He was a wonderful uncle and will always hold a special place in my heart.

To the Family of Martin Shields,
I am sorry to hear of your loss, and would like to share some comforting thoughts from the bible that may help you during this time.
 
Psalm 37:29 
"The righteous will possess the earth and they will live forever on it."

Rev 21:4
"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." 

These two scriptures along with John 5:28,29 which tells us that those we have lost in death will come out of the memorial tombs, gives us much comfort. By looking at all of these scriptures the bible clearly allows us to understand that there will be a resurrection of all those that have passed in death, and those that live by God's standards will live on earth forever and will no longer experience death. What a wonderful thought for all of us to consider. I hope this brings your family comfort during this difficult time.

My dearest Ellie, Pam and Mike, Tom and Pam~ grand children and great-grandchildren.  The sorrow I feel for the loss of husband and father~ grandfather and great-grandfather (Bill) is so hard to put into words.  Your wonderful smile and great great laugh will always be with me.  You gave so much love and so much love was given back to you!  Your loving self will be ever so missed.
