Born on April 19, 1938, in Buffalo, New York, she leaves behind many friends and loved ones. After graduating from East Aurora High School, Mary completed an English degree from Western Reserve University and attained her Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing from Columbia University. While raising her three children, she obtained her teaching certificate and served as an educator of the hearing impaired for Columbus (Ohio) City Schools for more than 20 years. An avid quilter, Mary spent countless hours designing and making quilts for family, friends, and acquaintances. She loved her yorkies and spending time at her family cottage in Canada. Her faith in Jesus Christ filled her life and led her to serve as an active member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church for many years where she developed many deep and meaningful relationships.
She is predeceased by her parents Edison and Dorothy Pierce and loving husband of 26 years John Benson Clark, Jr. (2012). She is survived by family, including her brother William “Bill” (Anne) Pierce, nephew Charles (Heather) Pierce and niece Rebecca Pierce (Casey Cork); daughter Kathryn (Ian) Jackson, and sons Robert (Marsha) Graham and Andrew Graham. She leaves behind too many loving and caring friends to count.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church - Mill Run Campus, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM followed by a memorial service at 11AM with reception to follow until 2PM.
