Mary McCormic Coffman, 89, of Upper Arlington, died Sunday, April 3, 2011. She held Under Graduate and Post-Graduate Degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an instructor at both Duke University and the University of Maryland. She worked with the Girl Scouts of America and was involved with the Boy Scouts’ Sustaining Membership Drives for many years. Mary was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for over twenty five years and co-authored The Red Cross’ Low Sodium Diet Cookbook. She also enjoyed raising and showing cocker spaniels and was an officer in the Cocker Spaniel Club of Central Ohio. She is survived by her son Sutton Coffman, sisters Helen Brunson, Doris Page, Allie Britt and Joyce Auman. There will be no memorial service at this time. Interment will be in the family plot in North Carolina. In the near future there will be a gathering of friends and neighbors to celebrate her life. Given her long time involvement with the American Red Cross, in lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to the American Red Cross in her name.
