Mary Charlene Johns

Mary Charlene Johns, 72, of Columbus, OH and formerly of Marion, OH and Chandler, AZ, entered eternal life on January 10, 2022. Born September 10, 1949 in Marion, OH, she was the daughter of the late, Charles A. Johns and Dorothymae Kiehlmeier Johns. She is survived by Daniel T. Johns (Beth) of Bokeelia, FL, Leslie A. Johns McGeady (Joseph) of Dayton, OH, Kevin D. Johns (Angie) of Ostrander, OH, Bela R. Bowley of Niles, IL, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A 1967 graduate of Marion Catholic High School and the Capital University Law School, Certified Legal Assistant Program, Mary dedicated her life in service to others. The majority of her career was spent at the Legal Aid Society of Columbus where she was founder of their Senior Legal Services unit. Mary found her passion in advocating for the rights of seniors, and in teaching them how to strengthen their voice.

Through the years, Mary was committed to the Cursillo movement and to Cum Christo. Mary's life purpose was to lead others to grow closer to Christ through shared community. Mary enjoyed traveling, nature and genealogy. But of greatest importance to her was her family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Pius X Church located at 1051 Waggoner Road, Reynoldsburg, OH. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH at a later date.
