Mary Barbara (Eberts) Muir joined the family she loved in paradise on May 14, 2013 after 89 years of faithfully following God’s plan for her. Mary was a long time resident of the Hilltop, a St Aloysius and West High grad, and member of St Agnes Parish. She was selfless in her devotion to her family and was compassionate to those in need. Her humble, kind manner was infectious to all. As the Westside’s police and fire scanner listener, she enjoyed euchre, board games, and reading the news and is probably reading this obituary now because that was the first thing she did each day. Although Mary was small in stature, she was a formidable presence with her 8 children and her grandsons in particular. She could wield a “fanny whacker” like no other. No back talk was permitted because she would “warsh” your mouth out. Until her last moments, Mary was the pillar of strength and remained the matriarch of the Muir Clan. She will join in heaven: her parents James and Gladys, her husband Emerson (Jack), her sisters Jane Dinneen and Margaret Staley, and great granddaughter Natalee Dolby. Blessed by her life are her children: James (Judy), Judy (Norm) Parrish, Pam (Don) Dolby, Katie (Bill) Brintlinger, David , Shelley (Rick) Dulin, Phillip (Doris), Barbie (Chris) Marchese, her 31 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and yes if you are still reading this, 1 great-great-grandchild and 1 on the way. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Family Soup Kitchen or Mt Carmel Hospice to further Mary’s love of helping others. Mary, the Door Warden, had an uncanny habit of locking the door as soon as we exited (even though a few got past her to moon COTA buses). So…in light of that, we want Mom to know we will see her in heaven, KEEP THE GATES UNLOCKED. Family will receive friends 3-8pm Friday, May 17, 2013 at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204 with Mass of Christian Burial, 10 A.M. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church, 1600 North Hague, Columbus, OH 43204; Fr. Jeff Rimelspach, Celebrant; private family burial at a later date.
