

Mary Kathryn Principe Oris, 71, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Grant Hospital, Columbus, following an extended hospital stay. Mary Kay was born on January 10, 1941 in Rochester, NY to the late Helen Hickey Principe and Edmund Herbert Principe. After graduating from high school, Mary Kay attended Duquesne University and graduated with a degree in English. She went on to earn a degree in accounting from Clarion University followed by a Masters degree in finance from Youngstown State University. Mary Kay was also a licensed school treasurer and worked for the Youngstown City School District in the Office of the Treasurer for a number of years. She served as Interim Treasurer for a brief time before moving to Columbus, Ohio to join the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Grants Management where she served as a consultant from 1998 to the present. She was active in the union and most recently served as treasurer for the local chapter. Mary Kay participated in many activities. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in German Village where she often served as a lector. In addition, she was quite active in her neighborhood and the Schumacher Place Civic Association where she enjoyed socializing with her many friends and neighbors. Mary Kay had a life-long love of the arts and was a long-time member of the Franklin Park Conservatory and Columbus Museum of Art. She also enjoyed volunteering as an usher for the many performances presented by the Columbus Association of Performing Arts (CAPA) and especially enjoyed the Broadway in Columbus series. Mary Kay is survived by daughters Cheryl Perez of San Antonio, Texas and Deborah Taylor of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alysya and Frank Perez of San Antonio, Texas and Ava and Hadley Taylor of Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sjogrens Syndrome Foundation or the Columbus Association of Performing Arts. Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Saturday, December 29 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 684 South Third Street, German Village, Columbus. Fr.
