Mrs. Mary was born in Hazard Kentucky on Feb 21, 1931 to Hamp Jewel and Cleo Brewer. The family relocated to Columbus, Ohio when she was a teenager.
In 1948 she married Lugene Taylor and had six children.
She attended 12 years of schooling and is an alumnus of East High School.
She was a long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church founded and built by her great grandparents in the 1940s. Mary was also a long-time member of Mt Hermon Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. She served in various positions at New Hope Baptist including mother of the church, a member of the choir and deaconess.
She was employed at Howard Johnson restaurant and worked for Dr Stewart and his family for many years.
Mrs. Mary is preceded in death by her Grandparents Jiles & Mary Brewer, Parents Hamp & Cleo Jewel, Husband LuGene Taylor, Brothers Roger and Ralph Jewel and Daughter Mary Davis.
She survived by her son Allan Eugene Taylor, daughters, Elizabeth Taylor, Loretta (George) Harrison, Rita (Vaughn) Stevenson, Theresa Taylor and a host of grandchildren, great grandkids and three nieces.
