It is with great sadness we say farewell to our dear sister - Melanie A. Thompson. She was born September 3, 1951 to (deceased) parents John E Thompson and Marian (Norris) Thompson and passed away on All Saints Day, November 1, 2019.
Always the life long learner, Melanie attended St. Augustine's Catholic School, graduated from St.Francis DeSales High School in 1969, attended The Ohio State University and earned her under-graduate degree from Ohio Dominican. She earned her Master's Degree in Business from Xavier University. She also earned CPCU and CLU professional insurance designations.
Her passions include (of course) OSU Football and the Cleveland Browns, a passionate love of reading, a love of writing, love and caring for her cats - Merlin and Cooper, and a dedication to her faith and parish members at St. Augustine's and Gabriel Catholic Church, where she was a lover of music and an ardent choir member for many years.
Her extensive working career began with the New York Central Railroad followed by a decades long tenure at Nationwide Insurance where her talents and contributions were greatly valued and appreciated until her retirement in 2018. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Association at Worthington Glen Condominiums where she befriended her neighbors and contributed greatly until her recent move to Chestnut Hill Senior Living in New Albany, and passed away after several health issues and injuries.
Melanie is survived by her closest companion and beloved sister, Denice, sister-in-law Drusie Thompson, and brothers William (Marianne) Thompson and Paul (Jackie) Thompson, 6 nieces and nephews and 13 great grand nieces and nephews. Also her dear friends Sandy Essig and Linda and Cliff Smith.
While our hearts are heavy, we are comforted that she is welcomed Home to our Heavenly Father, and greeted by her father, mother, sister Patty Decker and cherished brother, Jimmy.
Visitation will be Friday November 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Schoedinger Chapel - 5554 Karl Rd. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday November 9 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine and Gabriel Parish - 1550 E. Hudson St. Following in procession to Resurrection Cemetery 9571 North High St. Route 23 N, Lewis Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Augustine Catholic Church or Cozy Cat Cottage in Melanie's honor would be greatly appreciated.
