Mel was my grandpa. I apparently missed out on the dog toys my cousins remember, but he was always so kind to me when I'd come to Ohio. I remember him bringing home RC cola and Donotos pizza when we'd visit and before he retired. I remember him proudly showing off his garden to me and taking me for ice cream at Moores and to the fair in the summers. He went along with whatever I wanted to do...even when I interviewed him for hours about his childhood when I know he'd rather have watched tv. Our lasts words to each other were always, "I love you" and I'll miss him.

Melvin was my grandpa. I'll always remember Melvin because he was such a light even when he was so sick he didn't know who we were. I remember as kids, he used to throw this toy that was meant for dogs, and my sister & I would crawl to get the toy and bring it back to him. The smile on his face was one you could never forget. He was all the nurses favorites and he was incredibly funny when you would try to wake him up he would just yell at you to go away. Whenever we would go see him we would always bring him treats, always a coke, White Castle and chocolate. He got so excited when he saw it and would devour everything we brought him. He would always insist that he didn't need a coke but we knew he really did want one. And every time I would leave him I would give him this huge hug and he would brighten up, smiling ear to ear and he would wave to us and told us to come back. You'll be missed grandpa and I hope to see you again one day.

Mel was my grandfather.  He has always been so kind to me. I remember going to him and June's house and playing many hours of ping pong in their basement, rolling down their big hill over and over in their backyard, and trying to hunt for Eggs that were hidden all around their house during Easter. He was known to be such a hard and dedicated worker. May he rejoice in heaven forever!

Melvin was my grandfather. My fondest memory was when all the grandkids acted like dogs and grandpa would throw the dog toy and we would fetch it back for him.

Mel was my father in law and was for 36 years.  A couple of my favorite memories are playing ping pong in his basement and golfing with him at Bolton Field.  He was a great ping pong player and a terrible golfer but he had great time doing both.  I will miss him showing me his coin collection and visiting him everytime I was in Ohio.  Even after he developed alzhiemers he always seemed to remember me.  Hope they have a golf course or bowling alley in heaven!
