Michael Joseph McGee

Michael Joseph McGee, age 67, of Columbus, Ohio, was peacefully welcomed home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2025. Born on May 1, 1958, at St Ann’s hospital, Michael lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.

Michael was the beloved son of the late Colonel Joseph McGee and Ida Mae Thomas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Delmar McGee, as well as his grandparents, Helen Thomas and Hiram Thomas. He is survived by his brother, Craig McGee, along with a large and loving family who will forever cherish his memory.

Michael, a proud member of the East High School Class of 1976 in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated many years to a career at General Motors, where he eventually retired. He also generously gave his time overseeing the Otto Beatty Men's Closet at IMPACT Community Action, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment. Beyond his professional endeavors, Michael had a true passion for cooking and the culinary arts. Whether crafting a meal in the kitchen or sharing it with others, he found joy in bringing people together through food.

Michael had a gift for lighting up any room he entered. His warm smile, caring heart, and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was the kind of person who made others feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His laughter, kindness, and presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Michael leaves behind eight children; Marquisa Goodgame, Michael (Dominique) Wakefield, Brenna (Brian), Brendan, Adrienne, Christopher, Brittany & Tyquan whom he loved deeply and proudly; As well as 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. His legacy lives on through them and through the many lives he touched with his compassion, generosity, and unwavering love.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 2PM-4PM, with a funeral service beginning at 4PM at Schoedinger Midtown, 229 E State St, Columbus, OH 43215.
