

Mike grew up in Columbus, Ohio, attended Our Lady of Peace, and was a graduate of Waterson High School and Capital University. After college, Mike started his career at The Student Book Exchange, where he worked for over 40 years. He retired in December 2017 when the bookstore closed its doors after 64 years in business.
Mike was a devoted and supportive father, treasured friend, and favorite neighbor. Mike preserved lasting friendships from his childhood, all of whom were a central part of his life and a great support to the end. He was an avid reader and water skier. He loved music, dogs, boating, fishing, motorcycles, vintage cars, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Ohio State Football. He was happiest when spending time with his children and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen Rau. Survived by his son, Aaron Rau of Cleveland, OH; daughter, Loren Rau of Columbus, OH; ex-wife and friend, Delene Rau, of Folly Beach, SC; sister, Suzanne (Thomas) O'Leary of Columbus, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Meghan (Matt) O'Leary Herreras of Oakland, CA, Thomas (Katie) O'Leary, Jr. of Groton, CT, C. Coleman (Lisa) O'Leary of Bay Village, OH, and Kate (Chris) LaVogue of Bay Village, OH.
Family and close friends are invited for a short informal burial service on Friday, August 6 at 1:30PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 High St, Lewis Center, OH 43035.
Celebration of life to follow at Pies and Pints, 7227 North High Street, Worthington, OH from 4-7PM. All are welcome.
