Molly Foster, age 95, passed away on July 9, 2025, at First Community Village in Columbus. She was born on February 3, 1930, in Dover, OH and often recalled her best years as an only child growing up in Zanesville with her mother and loving grandparents. Molly graduated from Zanesville High School in 1948 and went on to attend The Ohio State University where she majored in English and Spanish in the College of Education -- both of which subjects she later taught back at Zanesville HS. During very happy days at OSU, she was a member of Alpha Lamda Delta, freshman scholastic honorary, and also joyfully pledged Pi Beta Phi sorority. Molly was also crowned the “Makio Queen” in 1951 -- a prestigious honor named annually for the university yearbook.
Later, as a resident of both Upper Arlington and Delaware County, Ohio, Molly enjoyed volunteering as a member of the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae—where she served on the advisory committee and house board. She was also a member of First Community Church, Guild X and the Childhood League, Board V. Molly also spent many content years collecting antiques and as a consummate wordsmith, satisfying her love of vocabulary and history by reading. But Molly took the greatest pleasure from adopting her cherished pets -- including a menagerie of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, a horse and geese. During her wonderful years in the country house she built in the woods, Molly also welcomed deer, opossums, and raccoons into her yard and heart. Her animals were always her primary passion and her love for them has been passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Molly is predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, Robert M. Foster, her daughter-in-law, Linda, and her granddaughter, Alexandra. She is survived by her three children, Marti Corna (Tim Mitchell) of Powell, Skip Foster, of Durango, CO and Nicole DeVere (Don) of Columbus -- as well as grandchildren Liza and Will and great-grandchildren, Adi, Ella and Koen. Molly is also survived by her beloved Beagle, JoJo, who she adopted from the Humane Society of Delaware County.
Molly’s family extends special appreciation and gratitude to the caring staff members and of the Roxbury Cottages at First Community Village and hospice who helped her through difficult times. You will always be remembered.
