

Nancy Louise McCall was called home on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Whetstone Gardens, Columbus, Ohio. Nancy Louise McCall was born on January 2, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Sarge and Lizzie McCall. She graduated from high school in 1965 from Feller College, Quebec. She received her bachelor of education from Ricker College in Bangor, Maine. She continued her graduate work at the University of Hartford receiving a Master of Education. Nancy continued her post graduate work at The Ohio State University majoring in Administrative Education. She was a member of the Columbus Black Journalist and a member of the Columbus Education Association. Nancy was a loving and dedicated teacher. Her teaching time began in the Bloomfield School System teaching American History. She served as an ESL teacher for Hartford High School. Leaving Connecticut, she began teaching in Columbus City Schools as a Latchkey Director at Firth Ave and Valley Forge Elementary Schools. She then served as an ESL teacher at Sherwood Middle School. Nancy was also a tutor for Franklin Middle School and for the Columbus Public Schools Home Instruction Program. Her teaching spanned 20 years in education. She received the Award of Excellence from the Columbus Association of Black Journalist for her work as an instructor in the area of writing and communication. Nancy is survived by her sisters, Marilyn Lawrence and Shirley Gramby; brother-in-law, Charles Gamby; son, Harold Wetherbee and daughter-in-law, Elexia Wetherbee; daughter, Tanya Wetherbee; grandchidren and great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.
