

Nellie was born November 18, 1924 in Somerset, Kentucky to Hiram and Pearl Phelps. She married Charles Samuel Martin on December 13, 1945 who preceded her in death.
Nellie and Charles were blessed with four loving sons, Charles (Doris), Rick (Connie) Doug (Missy) and Jerry (deceased). She was the loving and caring grandmother to 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Nellie is also survived by her brother, Jimmy “Chief” (Jewel); a sister-in-law, Maxine and a special daughter-in-law, Brenda Sherman. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Louie; a brother, Vola; and a very special friend, George Smith.
Nellie worked as a cook most of her career at such places as the JCC, Otto’s Deli and Cookie’s Diner. She was very active in the W&W Club in Reynoldsburg. Nellie was a Christian who will be sadly missed by many friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230 where a Memorial Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 6 p.m.
