Norma Jean Lewis

Norma Jean Lewis, age 95, formerly of Columbus, OH. Norma was born on August 26, 1927 in Columbus. She was a second-generation German who was born and raised in German Village until her marriage, when she moved to east Columbus. Norma was married to John “Buck” Lewis on June 26, 1947 at Gates Fourth United Methodist Church. She spent her last three years in Batesville, Indiana near her great nephew, Jack Schiller as her health was compromised. Norma passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 with Jack by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents, Harold and Elsie Sharp; her sister, Barbara “Sis” (Jack) Martin; and nephew, Robert “Bob” Martin. She is survived by her niece, Patricia “Patty” (Marc) Behrendt; her great nephew, Jack (Melanie) Schiller; great great niece and nephew, Alexis and Connor Schiller; great niece, Jonelle Banks; great nephew, Jeremy (April Ledbetter) Banks, great great nephew, Cole Banks; great great nieces, Ashley and Dakota Banks; great niece, Kristen (Thomas) Yam, great great nephew and niece, Beckham and Gemma Yam; great niece, Angela (Kyle) Sudu; and great nephew Joel Banks. Her canine companions were dear to her. Missy stayed behind with Norma’s beloved and longtime neighbors of 50+ years David and Joyce Kelman; however, Molly is on a long car ride with Norma now. Norma worked her entire career at Motorists Mutual Insurance Co. (Encova) starting in High School, working her way up from Filing Consultant to Underwriting Admin. & keys to Executive Suite in those 45 yrs.! Those who knew her, knows she enjoyed the cottage at Buckeye Lake called “MarShaLew” and watching sunsets over the water. She attended Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church and recently Madison Christian Church for many years. A sincere thank you to David & Joyce, Ron & Robin Schiller, John & Ruthanne Hammel, Tammy Stevenson, and all her neighbors and friends past and present who helped throughout a 95 yr. life well lived. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232, where family and friends may call from 12 noon-1:00 pm Wednesday. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
