Olivia Grace Tatz

The name Olivia means olive, or olive tree. A symbol of calm and a symbol of a peace offering. We had gone through so much to get our sweet Olivia- losing Alex, losing Henry, fighting to conceive. It’s our hope that Olivia can one day bring us some peace and calm to our lives, maybe extending an olive branch to us to heal our souls after everything we’ve been put through. And we know we’ll be fighting to put memories to her name and finding our own ways of using her memory to extend some peace to others.

The name Grace has many meanings- beauty, kindness, mercy, favor. We’ll never be able to understand the reasons that all of this has happened, but we fight to cling to the belief that this has all been a mercy in disguise. Olivia will always be considered a blessing, a beauty, perhaps a mercy. She was perfect in her own way.

So very, very small are her footprints on paper but so very, very large are her footprints on our hearts. We have to believe that Olivia will teach us things just as Henry and Alex have, and we have to believe that Olivia is fulfilling a purpose in this world that we can’t see. What a special role for her to have! Perhaps she is spending eternity granting peace and grace to those in need and we can only hope she’ll do the same for us.
