

Patti is preceded in death by her parents James and Eleanore Dixon of Dublin and her husband of 33 years, Robert Gates of Vermont. Patti was born on January 21, 1953 and spent much of her life in New England.
She received her B.A from Drew University and her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision of Elementary Schools from Seton Hall University. She also attended Boston University where she received certification in the culinary arts. During this time she was taught by several of the world's best known chefs including Julia Child, James Beard, Jacques Pepin, Jasper White and Marcella Hazan.
Patti was a gentle soul and accomplished cook and she shared her gifts with everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Laine Gates Hamner of Columbus and her sisters Kathleen O'Connor of Pelham, New York, Margaret Wilmers, Colleen Dixon and Geraldine Dixon Speer of Dublin, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Monsignor Joseph Hendricks will be officiating the celebration of Patti's life. The service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday May 21st at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Rd. in Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Geraldine Dixon Speer Triple Negative Breast Cancer Fund at the Columbus Foundation, 1234 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43205.
