

God’s hand recently touched a special angel to join in His Heavenly choir. Penny Brill Parker, age 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on October 21, 2025 at Westerwood Memory Care in Columbus, Ohio. Wonderful memories of Penny will linger forever.
Penny was born in Columbus on January 19, 1947. She is preceded in death by her mother, Gretchen Brill Howald and father, Cecil Ray Brill.
Penny graduated from Mifflin High School, class of 1965, and from The Ohio State University in 1969. With a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education, Penny taught in the Columbus City School District as well as in the Reynoldsburg City School District.
Penny was a calm, soothing, quiet type of person. Everybody loved Penny as she had that infectious type of personality, with a ray of sunshine, filled with joy. Being active, interacting with others, enjoying kitties, puppies and nature, reading, listening to a variety of music, singing, walking, and watching Hallmark movies were her passions.
Survivors include sister Marcia (Michael)Dillon of Hilton Head Island, SC, nephew Drew (Heather) Kilkenny of Corolla, NC, Aunt Margy Alderson of Yuma, Arizona, and many cousins who are scattered throughout the United States.
The family of Penny would like to extend their thanks to the hardworking, caring aides and nurses of Westerwood, as well as the amazing, warmhearted, and comforting folks from Luminary Hospice of Columbus. A special thank you goes to Kerry and Cathy Hile and to Eldon and Karen Sheffer who have been with us all the way on this journey. We could not have done this without your love, support, comfort, and wisdom.
A celebration of Penny’s life will take place on Friday, December 12 from 1:00-1:30 for visitation; 1:30-2:00 for the service celebrating her life at Advantage Funeral and Cremation by Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Road in Columbus, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Alzheimer Association of Columbus, Luminary Hospice of Columbus, or The Humane Society in honor of Penny’s memory. Links to Donate to each are listed below.
