Ralph Alan Kerns passed away suddenly Saturday, August 31st, 2019 in his home in German Village. He is survived and remembered by his brother Bruce, his sisters Jeri and Elaine, his children Aaron, Evan, Adam, and Hannah, as well as six nephews, and several grand nephews and grand nieces. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Nancy Kerns.
Ralph was born on May 26th, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Franklin Heights High School and graduated in 1971 before attending Ohio State University. He worked to pay his own way through classes at Capital University where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1980.
He practiced law in central Ohio for 38 years. He loved his siblings, children, and entire extended family deeply and was always ready with a joke or a story to entertain and cheer everyone who met him. He loved to sail, ride horses, read books, draw, play the trumpet, study architecture, and build models with his children. He recently renewed his relationship with God and the Church and enjoyed studying the Bible and involving himself in the Church community.
He will be missed for his easy laugh, his irreverent sense of humor, and his never ending support of his family. However, his numerous anecdotes and hilarious stories will live on forever in his children, friends, and anyone who met him.
Calling Hours will be held at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Worthington on Thursday, September 5th, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made to charities of the givers' choice in memory of this generous man.
