Ralph Palmer Severance

Ralph P. Severance, age 78, of Reynoldsburg passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010. Ralph was born on October 14, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Rollin M. and Henrietta Severance. Ralph is also preceded in death by his son, Ralph Phillip Severance and brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Elizabeth) Severance. Ralph grew up in Saginaw and graduated high school there; he went on to attend Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. He was a minister for several years, and then managed for a Christian bookstore. Ralph went onto work for Christian publishers and he was Salesman of the Year for 2 years for Word Publishing. He returned working for the family business in Saginaw; Severance Tool Industry. He then started Severance Midwest Sales in Columbus; while still helping out the family business in Saginaw. In 1953 Ralph married Joan (Wright). Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Joan; son, Craig “Alan”; sisters, Catherine (Neil) Neuenschwander and Marietta (Ted) Terry; and brothers, Charles (Gloria), William E. (Yvonne) and James F. (Naomi). Ralph was a member of Assemblies of God, and also a past Gideon. He enjoyed singing, especially in a quartet with his brothers and at Central Bible College along with being song leader at church. Ralph and his son, Craig enjoyed going to Detroit to watch the Lions and Tigers play and in Columbus watching the Blue Jackets. Ralph always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 1:30pm to 3pm, with services starting at 3pm at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. Interment to follow on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 2pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw, Michigan.
