Raymond Scott DiPaolo, 67, passed away Saturday, April 4th, 2026 after a long illness. He passed peacefully in his home and can now finally rest free of pain. He is survived by his sisters Judy (DiPaolo) Montgomery, Rita DiPaolo, and Linda (DiPaolo) and Geoff Arthur, nephew Morgan Montgomery, nieces Merrill and Addie Arthur and many cousins, aunts, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Connie, parents Raymond and Karen DiPaolo, and Nancy and Jim Burtch.
Scott grew up in Columbus and graduated from Bexley High School. He served his country in the Navy and was proud of his Veteran status. He retired from the State of Ohio and made the best of his remaining years. He spent many years with Connie living in Plain City but moved back to Columbus a few years ago to be near his family.
Scott loved his planes, drones, and especially his very large telescope where he had friends and family join in watching the total solar eclipse in a memorable way. He loved his dogs Gus and Sophie and spent time cat sitting for his close friend Bob. It was not unusual to find Scott sitting in one of his favorite neighborhood haunts hanging out with his buddies and flirting with the ladies.
Although he felt he could one day beat this illness, it continued to wear him down but now he finally has peace. His spiritual life was important to him and he continued to learn and seek God’s grace and is surely in his eternal home now.
His Funeral Service will be held at 4:00PM on Tuesday, April 14th at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road in Upper Arlington where viewing hours will follow until 7:00PM that evening. In lieu of flowers, please make a monetary contribution to “Speak for the Unspoken”, animal rescue at https://www.speakfortheunspoken.com. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Dayton National Cemetery.
He will be very missed but always remembered in our hearts.
