Born in Highland Park, Michigan, on March 31, 1935, Dick was a proud graduate of North High School, ’53, and The Ohio State University, ’58, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
On December 28, 1957, Dick married his college sweetheart, Nancy Ann Robinson. Together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, family, and travel adventures across the world.
Dick began his career in the shipping industry, which took his family to St. Louis, Missouri, and Oakland, California, for six years. His career eventually brought the family back to Upper Arlington, Ohio, where they planted deep roots. Later, Dick joined his wife, Nancy, in a successful real estate career with HER Realtors.
In addition to spending time with his family, Dick had a lifelong passion for sports. He coached his children’s teams, attended UA and OSU athletic events, and was especially devoted to Lady Buckeye basketball, whom he watched from his baseline seats since 1976. He served as the first coach of the UA girls soccer program for 12 years.
Dick was deeply involved in his community through service with the Old North Hi Club, OSU Alumni Association, President of the Sigma Chi House Board, the Rotary Club of Upper Arlington, President of Rittenhouse Square HOA, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Dick was a loyal friend and truly did not know a stranger. He will be remembered for his connection with people and the ability to make them feel special.
