Deceased wife Miami Hickman, brother Wilbur Hickman and sister Albert Ziegler are dearly remembered. Early childhood was difficult growing up in Rosedale, Indiana during the Great Depression. Dick excelled in academics with the encouragement of his older brother Wilbur and older sister Alberta. Dick graduated with a Bachelor degree with Honors in Electrical Engineering from Rose- Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute, Indiana, with continued graduate studies at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, Louisiana while serving as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. His service in the U.S. Army extended during WW II in Germany. Upon completing his Army service in Germany, he returned to Terra Haute, Indiana and met a college beauty queen Miami White. They were married in 1948 and Dick pursued a career with AT&T in New York City. Sons Bill and Tom were delivered in 1950 and 1952 as Dick and Miami lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Cincinnati, Ohio. Dick and Miami moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1955 as Dick took a management position with a small start-up company Accuray. Dick's career with Accuray continued to expand to the Senior Vice President level until retirement in 1984. Retirement meant consulting contracts with Fortune 500 corporations, vacations in Florida and golf as a long time member of Worthington Hill Golf and Country Club. After the sudden death of Miami, blessed fate lead Dick to volunteer at Riverside Hospital where he met and fell in love with Mary Jane Trimble, the Angel and True Love of his later years. They were married at First Community Church on November 27, 2004, where Dick was a member for over 55 years. Dick was a precious father, nurturing and loving his family through their many happy years together. He was a Cub Scout baseball coach, active in the church and supporter of the musical interests of Bill and Tom. He loved the many hours playing bridge with friends, golfing with his buddies and couples at Worthington Hills and frequent family visits with the Indiana Hickman's. He'll be remembered for his patience and endurance while driving in the family station wagon on extended family vacations to Yellowstone Park, New York City, Cape Cod, Canada and Florida. His motto and lifetime lesson to his children and associates was "If a job is worth starting finish it to the best of your ability". Dick was a Virgo and a perfectionist, typical of Electrical Engineers. We'll miss you, Dick, and love you forever.
