Richard Craig Skovron, 72, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away December 22, 2021 at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital. Born January 6, 1949 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Dr. Michael and Jean Skovron, he graduated from Baldwin Wallace College and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He began his career as an attorney for the State of Ohio Unemployment Compensation Review Commission in 1974, retiring in 2011 as Assistant Chief Hearing Officer.
Rick treasured the time he spent with family and friends more than anything. He especially enjoyed golf, spectator sports, beach vacations, and working out and socializing with a close group of friends at the Gahanna YMCA. Rick was a talented craftsman who enjoyed home renovation projects and was always willing to share his skills with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Skovron, sister-in-law Deborah Skovron, and father-in-law William Evans. Rick is survived by his wife of 36 years Sandra Evans Skovron, his adult children Kelley Skovron and Christopher Skovron, his grandchildren Logan and Zane Skovron, sister Nancy Erickson, mother-in-law Harriet Evans, brothers in-laws Mark (Matilde) Evans and Michael Evans, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (https://give.mofc.org/) or the Gahanna YMCA (https://www.classy.org/team/343125) are suggested.
