Richard W. Underwood

Richard W. Underwood, age 91, passed away at home on Monday, July 23, 2018. He was born in Follansbee, West Virginia on July 8, 1927 to the late Everett and Virginia Underwood. Dick was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He met Helen in Steubenville, Ohio where they attended Steubenville Big Red High School together, they married on September 17, 1949. He retired from Ohio Bell after 42 years of dedicated service. He loved the outdoors and warm weather; boating, golfing, gardening, and winters in Naples, Florida. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Burnside. He is survived by loving wife of 69 years, Helen; daughters, Carol (Michael Bjerke) Young, and Connie (Tim) Browning; grandson, Scott (Jeannie Powell) Factor; step grandchildren, Jessica Bjerke, Jason Browning, and Kerry Browning Leedy; nieces, Debbie (Gary) Barbaryk, and Darlene Martin; sister in-law, Shirley Parisi; and "All the dogs". Family will receive friends from 10:00AM-11:00AM with memorial service following at 11:00AM on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43232.
