

Richard L. Wells, age 88 of Gahanna, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. Richard was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Maurice and Martha Wells. He is also preceded by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Wells and brother, Robert Wells. Following high school, Richard proudly enlisted with the U.S. Merchant Marines and served during WWII. He was an extremely hardworking man who retired as a supervisor from Westinghouse and then again as a custodian from Gahanna Lincoln High School, where he was known by many as “Wellsie”. Richard was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and debating about politics. He will be greatly missed by his children, Richard (Mary Ann) Wells, Jr., Thomas Wells, and Teresa (Steven) Hennick; grandchildren, Steven, Ronald, David, Jennifer, Chris, Michelle, Megan, Jessica, and Jenna; great grandchildren, Brooke, Courtney, Tyler, Logan, Olivia, Addison, Mason, and Ellie; dear friends, Jan and Harry Hennick and Margaret McCormick; and many other extended family members and friends. Family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd. Father Ryan Schmit, Celebrant.
