Richard K. "Dick" Wendt

Richard K. “Dick” Wendt passed away August 17, 2024. He was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin and lived in Columbus since 1956. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a lifelong Badger fan! He retired from Nationwide Life Insurance Co. as Vice President-Financial Analysis. He also served in a number of actuarial and administrative executive capacities. He was a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a charter member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He was a past president of the Actuaries Club of Columbus as well as the Actuaries Club of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. He was a longtime volunteer for both Easter Seals and LifeCare Alliance. He served as president of Easter Seals of Central Ohio, the Ohio Easter Seal Society and LifeCare Alliance. He was a long time member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, where he served as Treasurer and was a choir member for 25 years. He is survived by his daughter Judy O’Connor and granddaughter Mallory O’Connor (Andrew LaRosa), also by his son Richard “Rick” Wendt and his wife Deanna, grandsons Trevor Wendt (Haleigh) and Mitchell Wendt (Mackenzie). Richard is predeceased by his wife Carol Wendt, and brothers Jerry and Frank Wendt. He enjoyed golf, tennis and vacationing with his family in Hilton Head SC.

Family will receive friends from 2-4 P.M. Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 26, 2024 at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church – Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Dr. Private family burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the endowment fund of either LifeCare Alliance or the Easter Seal Society of Central Ohio.
